Gaza – Ma’an – Several Israeli military vehicles entered the Gaza Strip near the Al-Bureij Refugee Camp in the central area, Palestinian sources confirmed Saturday.

According to eyewitnesses, an Israeli military force penetrated 60 meters inside Palestinian lands early Saturday, and opened fire on Palestinian homes. Helicopters were seen flying overhead of the invading forces, appearing to give cover to the troop.

While in the Strip soldiers detained a farm guard, identified as Salah Tawil, who was released some hours later following an interrogation.

The action follows days of quiet along the Gaza border, during a period where violence in the area was rapidly heating up. Most of the violence occurred in the northern Strip.

An Israeli military spokesperson said there were no reports of activity in the area.
